Parnormal properties will be going on pre-sale on Amazon after the holidays! I am very stoked! Next week my publisher will give me the cover, front and back, to accept. I know they have done a wonderful job with it. Book signings coming next year!
Here is Paranormal Properties Christmas Story called The Ghost of Christmas Past. Frank teaches Jake the true meaning of Christmas. A short story that is perfect to read to your children at bedtime or just read to yourself! Don't forget to review it!!
Paranormal is a general term (coined ca. 1915–1920) that designates experiences that lie outside "the range of normal experience or scientific explanationor that indicates phenomena understood to be outside of science's current ability to explain or measure. Paranormal phenomena are distinct from certain hypothetical entities, such as dark matter and dark energy, only insofar as paranormal phenomena are inconsistent with the world as already understood through empirical observation coupled with scientific methodology.
New cover sketch of Paranormal Properties! The illustrator has captured Jake and Franks essences. There will be more in background but for now they are keeping it a surprise. Waiting to see it in color!
This is the first cover sketch of Paranormal Properties. I really like the layout and I have sent in some photos to the publisher that they asked for. For example what the house could look like in background. They needed more ideas for Jake. And I sent in ideas for Frank the ghost also. The bottom of Frank is absolutely fabulous. I love the fact Jake is sitting on van and parked in an obvious spooky place! A few touch ups and I know this will be one awesome cover!
Edits for my book have begun. It's a bit rough being my first time. But over all it really isn't bad, a great learning process. I think first time publishing can be a bit intimidating for anyone. I am now waiting to see the sketch of my book cover and also can't wait to watch my teaser trailer. I never thought I'd come this far, but it is really happening. I feel like I am in a dream! Please do not pinch me, I do not want to wake up!
I took my kids to see ParaNorman today. I am sure I laughed more than they did! I laughed so hard once I actually snorted. This movie is not only entertaining, it's great for all ages! It ranked third on opening weekend.
It's about a young boy who is the only one that can see ghosts. This sounds familiar to me. LOL He has a bit of trouble with bullies and people in general believing him.
If you have not seen it yet, you are definitely missing out.
I love Facebook! This past week I have found 4 of my old high school buddies. One of which is a TV star. His name is Gregg Binkley and he plays Barney on Raising Hope and he also played Kenny James on My Name is Earl. I love both of those shows and I always thought he looked familiar to me, but never in a million years did I ever think I knew him. His photo is from the 1981 album, my photo is from the 1980 album. I didn't finish my senior year there.
Don't get me wrong, we never hung out together. He was in drama and I was in the smoking area (I quit smoking 4 years ago), but I worked in our school kitchen at breakfast and I know I served him a few times. And I am sure I talked to him in the hallways once in awhile. My 12 year old daughter has always wanted to be an actress and when I told her about Gregg she begged me for acting classes. So this coming October I will be putting her into acting classes and watch her work towards her dreams.
You never know...I may write the best selling book that she will star in the movie of. Anything is possible, right?
Are you haunted? Do you have cold spots or hear unexplainable noises? Do your pets freak out in certain locations? Do certain smells come and go? Is the atmosphere different? Well you may just be haunted.
You're not alone, many houses are haunted. It happens. Now before you run to get a priest to bless your home, try these tips to check if you really have a spiritual visitor.
An analog tape recorder is a great way to check. Make sure there are no other noises and tape yourself asking questions like "Is anyone here with me?" "What is your name?" You get the picture. Pause in-between questions to allow for answers. 3a.m. is a good time to try this, but you can actually pick up EVP's (electronic voice phenomenon) anytime of day.
Take photo's. If you have long hair be sure to pull it back. Clean your lense before hand and look for spider webs as they may come out looking paranormal.
These are the most popular two ways to check and very reliable. If you don't get any evidence this way you may just have an overactive imagination. But to be sure do these 4 or 5 times and check the results. If nothing still it's pretty safe to say your house may just be settling or there is reasonable explanations for what you are experiencing.
A ghost, or specter, is a spirit that separates from a body and continues to exist after death. This can involve historical figures ranging from queens and politicians to writers and gangsters, many of whom died early, violent or mysterious deaths. Many not knowing they are dead continue on as if they were still alive. Others realizing they have ceased to live in the mortal world, do their best to get the attention of the living and maybe even their help to move on to the "next world".
Ghost can haunt places, objects, or even people. And some have said they have seen animal ghosts. Even if you don't see a ghost there are ways to capture evidence. Photos are a good way. Orbs and shapes of people have been caught in pictures. Also EVP's (electronic voice phenomenon) have been heard on tape.
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, they have created enough interest to where people have "hunted" them either by hobby or for a living. The number of television shows depicting ghost hunts are climbing. I am a believer, I have encountered apparitions, caught evp's, and have the feeling of being watched while home alone.
I decided to write a fun ghost story, one that kids will enjoy reading and not hide under the covers when night comes. My ghost is fun, friendly, and maybe a little pushy. But all in all, he is one "live" character, if you'll pardon the pun.
The following is the synopsis for my book Paranormal Properties which will be available Spring 2013.
Jake Weir, while on the set of his parents ghost hunting TV show, agrees to help a ghost investigate a 61 year-old murder.
Jake Weir is not like the other kids in Dusk, North Carolina. Then again, Dusk, North Carolina is not like other cities. Known as one of the most haunted cities in America, behind Salem, Massachusetts and New Orleans, Louisiana, Dusk is ground zero for Jake’s ghost hunting parents.
The Weir family has arrived in Dusk eager to scope out some of the town’s 127 reported “paranormal properties,” which just happens to be the name of their own ghost hunting show: Paranormal Properties.
What Jake doesn’t know, and what his parents could never imagine, is that Jake can see ghosts! And hear them. And talk back to them! This talent comes in handy when he runs into Dusk's oldest, most famous ghost: one Frank Barrone, a one-time lounge singer made famous by his booze-soaked ballad, “Barroom Eyes.”
Frank was gunned down by a local mobster in 1951 and has been searching for his killer ever since. When he learns that Jake can see and hear him, Frank makes young Jake a deal: if Jake will help Frank find his killer, Frank will help his parents find a ghost to film for their upcoming Halloween Special on Public Access Channel #319.
Jake enlists the only friend he’s made in Dusk, an overweight tomboy nicknamed “Tank,” to help him track down Frank’s killer. As clues emerge and old leads heat up, Frank and Jake learn they make quite a team. But will Jake find Frank’s killer? And will Frank find a real haunted house in time for Halloween?
My good friend Rusty Fischer has been helping me with the process of getting ready for my first book to be published next year. I wanted my first post to show him how much I appreciate him and his help.
Thank you Rusty! None of this would be possible without you.
I live in Kissimmee Florida with my two children Jesse and Brittany. I have been trying to write a book for several years and finally made myself sit down and do it. After having an editor go through it we submitted it to publishers. In two weeks I was signed up and on my way to living my dream!
